Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.-Lyndon B. Johnson
Every new day is a blessing in some way no matter how bad things ever always turn out or go bleak. With every new day comes an opportunity to change your life and make a lot of difference. With every new day comes another opportunity for you to correct the mistakes of the past and put to good use the lessons of yesterday.
Waking up to a new day is not a time to come worry
about the things that are going to happen again to you. It is not a time to
come regret about the actions and decisions of yesterday. Yesterday was a
lesson for you to learn in order to perfect today. Like I said in the last post,
the reason
many people fail too bad in virtually everything in life when it comes to them is simply because they never prepared for what tomorrow had in store for them.
many people fail too bad in virtually everything in life when it comes to them is simply because they never prepared for what tomorrow had in store for them.
Preparing for tomorrow is very essential if we must
meet up with the challenge of our daily lives. Consider a runner who has to run
a marathon race sometime in the future for the very first time. He does not
spend his time eating just anything. He has to eat what is right for the race.
He has to make a huge commitment to daily exercise to strengthen his bones and
his stamina. He does not just engage in any exercise, it has to be something
that is right for that kind of race! He has to stay motivated. He keeps himself
talking positively and studying about people who have done this and even more.
His daily distance coverage changes per interval because he has to learn to
cover more grounds. This entire works is to make it so much easy for him when
the time finally comes.
The same thing applies to life and success. Everyone
needs preparation. I was reading one of the biographies written about the late
king of pop, Michael Jackson. In one of the lines, read that he practiced for 6
hours every day! I was astonished. I just told myself, “He deserved to do all
that he did!” Our Lord Jesus Christ once told His disciples, “which of you
wanting to build a house will not first sit and consider if he is able, least
when he begins, he leaves it half finished!” preparing for tomorrow is as
serious as that.
The primary key to being prepared for tomorrow is to
finish the things you had to do today. Worry less about tomorrow in today. You
will all the energy and enthusiasm to face the homework of today. The success
of tomorrow lies in how well you have lived today. Like Dale Carnegie said, “...the best possible way to prepare for tomorrow is to concentrate with all your intelligence, all your enthusiasm, on
doing today's work superbly today…” That is just the way it is! Concentrate on
today. Finish today’s works well and you will live in success tomorrow.
Here are some things to do if you
want to be prepared for tomorrow:
1.
MAKE
GOD YOUR TRUST
“Trust in God as if it
all depends on Him. Work as if it all depends on you!” That is how serious
trusting in God is. If you want to live a life where you always have your back
cover no matter what happens, you must learn to trust in God. I read about
something in the scriptures where Jesus said, “There is nothing given to a man
except that which is from God.” God is the only person you can ever truly lean
on if you ever want to make it successfully through the life of tomorrow.
Trust in God with all
your heart. All your success depends on Him. No matter how hard you will
prepare, you will have to start with Him and see yourself to a perfect end.
2.
DECIDE
WHAT YOU WANT
Most people do not know
what they want out of life. They are simply just living life with the idea that
no matter what you do things will always be the way they were meant to be. And
because of that, they do not even bother to prepare for life. They always
settle for very boring lives.
You must be able to
decide what you want out of life. Visualize the way you want your life to go.
See into tomorrow. Do not leave decisions of your today for people to decide
for you. When you fail tomorrow, all you are going to do is to blame them. But
the honest truth still will stare right into your face: you would have made the
decision yourself. When we make decisions and the always happen to be the bad
decisions, we are prone to learn a lesson from that experience than if someone
else had made the decision for us.
What do you want for
tomorrow? Want do you see about your tomorrow? How do you want it to be? Decide
everything you want about your life, your career, your relationship, your kids,
your vacations, your finance, your dreams etc. Do not leave anything out.
3.
BEGIN
TO PLAN
This is where you begin
to set achievable goals for yourself. These goals could involve :
·
Twelve month goals
·
Thirty days goals
·
Ideal successful-day daily routine
Someone said it right,
“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” when you know what you want
out of life, you will not just wait for things to happen, you will always take
charge. You will not always wait for opportunities to knock on your doorsteps.
You will learn to create opportunities for yourself. You do not stand a chance
of any disappointment if you learn to create your own opportunities.
Plan your future with
your goals to align with your dreams. Let every plan you make and succeed take
you one-step closer to the life you want to see yourself living. From your daily
goals to your lifetime dreams, make a step-by-step journey into the future.
Unpredictable things will not easily occur because you have planned your life
to follow a certain direction. And when they eventually do, you are better
prepared to handle them.
4.
INVEST
YOUR TIME AND RESOURCES
Time is a tool, which
everyone on earth is dealt the same amount every new day…24 hours! What you do
with your time today matters. To become a good decision maker it takes time. To
become successful tomorrow make something resourceful of your time. Invest it
properly. Every successful person today knew very well how to use his or her
time yesterday. They made good investment with their time. You do not go about
doing the wrong thing with all the time you have today and plan to tell someone
you are working hard and making good use of your time. Do something that will
prepare you for the tomorrow you dream about.
Like the scripture that
says, “Whatsoever a man sows, that he shall reap”, whatever you put into today
either brings you good results or bad harvest. Put in your best into useful
things, because they are like training grounds where you perfect the art of
successful living tomorrow.
Learn from others. As
experience is never the best teacher, learning from others gives you enough
wisdom to make right decisions when faced with the same kind of challenges.
Read books written by people. Take a keen interest in your surroundings. Wisdom
is everywhere, learn from others mistakes and successes.
5.
CREATE
A PLAN “B”
Sometimes, no matter
how prepared we are for tomorrow, thing may not always turn out the way we
wanted or thought the will. Things go bad. Most of these things are things we
cannot control or change. Nevertheless, so they do not meet us unprepared, you
will always need a plan B.
People who easily
surrender to life are those who are out of ideas. They do not know what next to
do. The only plan they had in hand is shattered, so life ends there for them.
They do not go to keep trying anymore; they just think the whole idea of living
is useless. And suicide is always the last resort. This cannot be for someone
who has an action plan, so that if this fails, he switches over.
6.
BELIEVE.
Believe brings
confident. All things are possible to anyone who believes they are. When you
believe in the possibilities of your tomorrow begin good and great, you have enough confidence to face whatever
challenges will come with it. Believing in the beauty of tomorrow and believing
that things will always work out for the best is not just in the saying. When
the going gets rough, only the tough in believe keep going.
